Projects

Personal projects come with the territory of self driven and creative individuals. Unfortunately time is money, which leaves me with only a short time to provide examples of my skills described above. The few projects I've listed below are the ones I'm most proud of.

WordNetworks, Intextual™ & Kumogo™

My work at WordNetworks fully engrossed me. I was deeply set in the JavaScript world, (as well as Ruby on Rails) and while working on the framework I designed for our applications, did bouts of R&D (as my supervisor liked to call it) where I'd extend our frameworks, and refractor them constantly to preform better and better. I rewrote (I know, no one likes the sound of that, let me explain it in person) our framework and redesigned our product (which I'll describe in a bit) so that it worked more fluidly. The redesign had much more stability and worked in ALL browsers, which was quite an accomplishment for what it did.

The products I'm referring to are the front end applications of the entire back-end software. First, the engine would analyze a page to figure out what the topic of the page was, then pick out key words (it was amazingly sophisticated and dynamic, no predefined hotwords). Then the page would load the JavaScript engine, all the hotwords would be turned into links, and the links would activate a panel hidden on the page. A lot like the products of Contextual and AdBrite. The difference was that the panel showed user generated content, social media, pictures and other related items for that particular phrase.

Kingdom Wars

Kingdom Wars is an online multiplayer real-time strategy game. There are many games on the internet which attempt at such a feat, however my programming partner and I feel that in order to be truly successful, there needs to be a higher level of interaction. This game not only incorporates extreme interaction between the players, but also uses in-house developed engine based on the cutting edge XML and PHP technology (AJAX). Very complex behind the scenes while the front end provides a seemless interface and enjoyable experience to the player. The game is so dynamic that it borders the line of a desktop application. No page reloading is ever done except in two cases. (Changing language, and changing the layout.) Kingdom Wars includes a system for language localization. This method provides a very easy to update, and expandable way of providing the user with many language options.

Stickr

Stickr essentially adds a completely independent, user driven, superficial layer over the current internet. I suppose the best way to describe it would be to liken the internet to a huge glass plate with pictures (websites) behind it. Up until now, the glass between the user and the website has been unmodifiable; well not anymore. Stickr provides a new dimension to the web enabling anyone around the world to activate the Stickr layer on any website and see comments from hundreds of other users. Its progress can be tracked at www.twilightcoders.net (another project of mine).

I would very much love to discuss my work in person, and demonstrate my assets I would bring to your company. Many of my projects can be found at www.voltechs.com/projects. Code available upon request.
